newish

I went home for Thanksgiving, and while I was there I went shopping—sort of. You see, I went shopping in my mom’s closet. So this shirt, while not really new at all, is new to me, because my mom is awesome and lets me have things when I storm into her stuff, find things I like and say “Mom, can I have this? Please?”

Here’s how I took it to work

And for play? Well, add sequins, a scarf (it is winter) and a top knot, of course, and watch out for #fatcats crossing your path.

cape

I had a cape date last weekend. It’s ok to be jealous. A friend of mine and myself were inspired by PS I Made This’ super cool, super easy, do it yourself cape. So we made our own!

Here’s how I took it to work.

And play!

I think I can make a lot of looks out of this cape, and all it cost was two yards of fabric and some time. And it was fun!

monday

Hello! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and a safe Black Friday (yikes). Mondays can be the worst, let’s be real. Especially the Monday after a long weekend. So, to welcome back to the work week, I’m trying to have some fun.

This is my favorite part.

I love the geometry of this shirt and how it plays with the shapes on the clutch. I found that clutch when I went shopping in my Mom’s closet, and turns out it was my grandma’s. Pretty, isn’t it?

Here’s how I took the look from dressy to casual.

Switched my pencil skirt for jeans and boots, and this time I had fun with color/patterns in my sunglasses. See?

OH, I also got my hair cut.

See before. And after.

Like?

Whatchu been up to? Tell me everything. Are you adding any fun to Monday morning?

my new favorite

So, I showed you when I bought this shirt/dress/awesomeness, and it’s turned into my new favorite, most versatile item of clothing.

You could throw on some layers and a pencil skirt to make it ready for the office:

Or some knits and a blazer to get it ready for outside fun on a crisp fall day:

So good, right? I’ve combined many of my favorite things in these two outfits including, but not limited to boots, giant scarves, the color orange, handwarmers, pencil skirts (one of my professional answers for everything), strappy shoes, and purses that look like brief cases.

pattern fun

Happy Friday, everyone! Today, I am having fun with patterns. For work, I keep the pattern to my shoes:

and for play, I pile on the patterns everywhere:

It’s Friday, go crazy!

Hope everyone has a good weekend, with many versatile outfits. If you need me, you know where to reach me! (On Twitter, duh)

yikes i wear a lot of black

I mixed brown and black again. What can I say, I’m a rebel. Also, I kinda like it.

To tell you the truth, I was looking for a lighter brown, skinnier belt. Then I realized I don’t own one of those because I haven’t bought one (don’t you hate it when that happens?). So instead, I used this brown belt, which was actually a belt that came with a different skirt. As a rule, I try not to use those belts with the item of clothing they came with, you know, to switch things up. Either way, black on black with brown all over can be a good look, don’t be afraid. Also: black with navy blue. These are rules you should play with, not abide by.

For night, I added some knits. It is fall, after all. (I LOVE FALL SO MUCH)

Ok so maybe ignore my weird face and look at the outfit. The skirt is sort of a fake wool felt blend thingy. Whatevs, it was 25 dollars from H&M and it looks like fall to me. The scarf I made myself. Looks cozy, no? If it gets much colder than it was today, I’ll have to add some tights.

Only 28 days until Halloween and I don’t know what I’m gonna be. If you have ideas for me, tell me please at raesdays@gmail.com, on Twitter, or on Facebook.

meetings

hello hello. You know what’s worse than Monday morning? A Monday morning meeting.

So let’s counter the Monday-morning blues with an extra professional outfit. With a pencil skirt and blazer, your outfit will be the last thing you have to worry about at the start of the work week. And when it’s time to kick back, turn it into a casual outfit ready for fun with some jeans and a quick switch of accessories.

Good luck on your Monday!

outerwear as innerwear as outerwear?

I don’t really know if this is supposed to be a jacket or a shirt. So let’s do both ways.

more clutch

Day to night, new clutch style

As promised, a professional look with the clutch. Dressed up with some pants, red shoes, and a sweater over a button-up, you can go to work with a daytime clutch and not look out of place.

A closer look at my accessories (yikes, that top knot looks a little lopsided):

We got bracelets, we got watches, we got necklaces and we got PS I Made This’ hair comb!

To take this look from day to night, I just switched the bottoms to something more casual, easy peasy.

Enjoy your day, and daytime clutches!

simple

Day: black on top, white on bottom.

Night: White on top, black on bottom.

You cant tell, because it’s hard to fit both tall hair and tall shoes in one mirror, but my hair is a top knot. Make up is cat eye.
