May was such a great month! I continued getting settled in Chicago and entered my apartment in the Small Cool Spaces contest. I started a podcast with Jewels of Oven Lovin’. I had a fantastic vacation over Memorial Day, and I read some great books. The top viewed posts of May are:

Happy (late) Thanksgiving!
I’m thrilled to announce a new Nudson! My brother and his wife welcomed Dylan Henly Nudson into the world the day before Thanksgiving and we couldn’t be more thankful both mom and baby are healthy and well. I am so excited to have a niece, and I can’t wait to meet her in a few weeks. The blanket I’ve been knitting is for her, and now that she’s here I hope to finish soon so we can snuggle her up in it.
So between that and spending Thanksgiving with family and friends in beautiful New Hampshire, I have been floating through the end of this month in a happy cloud.
The top posts of the month were:
- what would death wear. This post was the most fun. I’ve discovered The Sandman comic series this year, and Death is a fantastic character. And Neil Gaiman, the writer of Sandman and many many other stories, saw this post on Twitter and retweeted it. It was so cool to reach out to someone whose work I admire and know they saw it. And the chatter on Twitter about what Death would wear was a blast. This is the reason I love this blog so much: I get the chance to connect with people and nerd out over new things.
- yarn cross-stitch pillow. I love this pillow. It was a fairly easy (though sometimes tedious) project and looks much more expensive than it really is.
- moma and what i wore. I went to my favorite museum this month and wore an outfit inspired by the artwork we saw.
- marathon brunch. This month started with one of my favorite days of the year. The New York City Marathon is a big party for the city and we celebrated with brunch at my house–right on the path of the marathon.
- project life: october (week 2). Project Life is still going strong for me. This has been one of the most consistent scrapbooking efforts I’ve undertaken and right now I think I’ll continue it into 2014. This week was dedicated to #fatcat.
November was amazing. I am so happy for this month and I can’t wait for December and Christmas! Some snapshots from the month (first one shamelessly stolen from my sister’s Facebook, the rest are mine):

Happy Halloween!
This month has gone so fast and I’ve been so busy that Halloween completely snuck up on me. I have no costume ideas and I only bought pumpkins for the first time this week–and they were mini pumpkins from the bottom of the barrel. But October has been great. It was full of loved ones visiting, or visits to loved ones. And I got deeper into the Sandman comic series this month, too. The top viewed posts from this month were:
- project wish list. Sometimes it’s nice to dream of what’s next.
- a visitor and what i wore. My dad came to town!
- out of town weekend snapshots. And I went to Chicago!
- new outfit: simple sweatshirt. I still am wearing this sweatshirt just about every day I can.
- baby blanket progress (11 inches). Getting closer and closer to finishing this blanket, one row at a time.

Are you ready for November?! It’s almost the end of the year!
month in review: september
September is over! It’s time for sweaters and scarves and Halloween. September was another fun month with one of the most fun weekends of the year when I got to see my best friend walk down the isle. The top-viewed posts in September were:
- welcome picnic and what i wore. I got a lot of wear out of my fun new pants.
- baby blanket progress (a note to baby girl). A note to my niece on a very sad day.
- snapshots: wedding weekend. The best weekend!
- how to write short: word craft for fast times. Author Roy Peter Clark commented on my post about his book! So cool.
- new outfit: casual. Some days it’s best to be casual.
This month I also completed one of my favorite projects I’ve ever done, a comic book inspired sweatshirt. I also got a haircut.

A lot of people mark Labor Day weekend as the end of summer. It’s technically September now, but I’m going to hang on to summer for as long as I can. I’m still feeling rooftops and rosé, not sweaters and pumpkin beer. Summer went by so fast that I’d just like to enjoy it a little bit longer.
The top posts of the month were:
- on the waterfront. I had a lovely time outside on the weekend and a fun, relaxed outfit.
- new outfit: patterned pants. So into these pants I think I’ll wear them every day.
- breaking bad and what i wore. I am still super stoked I went to this event. Everyone involved with Breaking Bad is a kind, generous, brilliant person–I am convinced.
- 10 books i haven’t read. As a commenter said, I better get reading!
- baby blanket progress (4 inches). It’s coming along! Slowly.
Here’s some pictures from the month.
month in review: july
July is over. What a fun month. There were fireworks, rooftops, and friends. It was hot–super hot–but the weather seems to have chilled out for now. The top-viewed posts in July were:
- boy’s life by robert mccammon. One of the best books I’ve read this year.
- rocket, my screen-printed bike. Don’t you want a bike that comes alive?
- rooftops and new skirts. So many rooftops this month!
- hot hot hot. Well it was really hot.
- the cuckoo’s calling part 1. I’ve made it through part 3. I’ll post about it later this week.

end of the month review: may
May is over. May was wonderful. I completed one of my goals for the year. I spent an amazing weekend celebrating a bride-to-be. I am so happy and so excited that it’s summer.
The year is just about half way over. I can’t believe how fast it’s going. I also can’t believe how happy I am. Ka is a wheel, and I know there’s ups and downs, but I am grateful for this big up.
The top posts of the month were:
- small cool space. Today is the last day to vote in Apartment Therapy’s Small Cool Contest!
- sweater to sweatpants. A go-to outfit around these parts.
- blue blazer. Still wearing this quite often.
- i carry your heart with me (embroidery no. 9). Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
- project life: capturing an exciting announcement. I’m going to be an aunt again!

march in review
Ok, I know it’s technically not quite the end of March. But I’d like to save the actual last day of March to post my latest embroidery, which isn’t exactly finished yet. So I’m counting it close enough to declare the month in review! The top viewed posts from March were….
- project life. I am so in love with this project. I love doing it, I love looking at the pages that I’ve done so far, and I’m really excited to keep this going. I’m glad people checked it out!
- project life: chicago update. See what I mean? Project life is so fun.
- if you love me (embroidery no. 4). I’m making headway on my embroidery project. This quote was one of my favorites.
- embroidery display. And I got to display them all this month! I love walking into my room and seeing them.
- apartment update. It’s almost time for the Small Cool Spaces contest. See what I’ve done so far.
Here’s some pictures from this month. (you can follow me on instagram at raenudson)
March has been a good one. I had a great vacation and made progress on a lot of projects. It went by really fast. Are you guys ready for April!?
january
I irrationally feel like this year is already flying by. I’m planning super fun trips and summer vacations and fall weddings (not mine). I am so excited to get to all these things, but I’m afraid that it will go too fast. January is already over!
The top-viewed posts in January were:
- 10 goals for 2013. So far, I’ve made progress on at least a few!
- company. Some of my favorite details around my apartment.
- new year, new polka dot blouse. An outfit post. I love this shirt.
- on writing (and editing). I talk about one of my favorite books on the craft.
- twin peaks. I’m still watching this show. It’s still weird and still beautiful.
It’s been pretty wintery around here lately, but #fatcat and I are trying to stay cheerful. Like with a good nap, a cup of tea, or stopping to view a brightly colored dinosaur while on a neighborhood walk. Some snapshots from the month (I’m on instagram as raenudson):
It was a good month! Now onto the next.
